The Cabo da Vila square, as its name indicates, formed the southern end of the urban center.<\/p>\n<p>The Camposa area, at present, totally urbanized, was the plainest area where the few farmlands the inhabitants disposed of, were situated. It is difficult, due to the lack of documentation and historic remains, to know how and when the town of Mux\u00eda was founded. Its origin is probably linked to these three factors: Monastery of San Xiao of Moraime, which had a major influence during the Middle Ages over the lands surrounding it; the Sanctuary of Our Lady of A\u00a0Barca \u2013 its\u00a0story goes hand in hand with the story of Mux\u00eda -, and lastly, the Count of Altamira, to whom one of his most closest men, Captain Fern\u00e1n \u00c1lvarez of Caranto\u00f1a, possessed a country house in the town located in Pena do Pazo. However, we can quote some examples of historic references:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8236 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia2-300x160.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia2-300x160.jpg 300w, https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia2-768x410.jpg 768w, https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia2-1030x549.jpg 1030w, https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia2-1500x800.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia2-705x376.jpg 705w, https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia2-450x240.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Portulano<\/em> by\u00a0the genovese Pedro Vesconte, published in the year 1313.<\/li>\n<li>Mux\u00eda receives the status of town around year 1345.<\/li>\n<li><em>Compostela History<\/em> (Volume VII): L\u00f3pez Ferreiro makes reference to the arrival of Venetian galleys\u00a0to the port of Mux\u00eda at the end of the 14<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Century.<sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/li>\n<li><em>Memories of the Santiago archbishopric<\/em>, written by Cardenal Xer\u00f3nimo del Hoyo in year 1607.<\/li>\n<li>Work <em>History of La Coru\u00f1a<\/em>\u00a0by X.R. Barreiro Fern\u00e1ndez: the town of Mux\u00eda was invaded by a French squadron in the year 1552.<\/li>\n<li>Work <em>Geography of the Galician Kingdom<\/em>\u00a0by Carr\u00e9 Aldao: Mux\u00eda and all its territory suffered major damage during the Galician invasion of the Napoleonic troops in the year 1809.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>At the beginning of the 19<sup>th<\/sup> Century the importance of the Mux\u00edan fishing industry already stood out<\/strong>, the most notable of which was the conger eel and sardine captures; by mid-century, the town already had a commercial and service function with regards to the rest of the municipality, and began to stand out significantly in the art of lace-making.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8237 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia3-300x160.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia3-300x160.jpg 300w, https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia3-768x410.jpg 768w, https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia3-1030x549.jpg 1030w, https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia3-1500x800.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia3-705x376.jpg 705w, https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia3-450x240.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of the 20<sup>th<\/sup> Century, Mux\u00eda was a seafaring town that had little more than one thousand inhabitants. The beach was a place for mooring small vessels that were moved by oars or sails, whilst the Constituci\u00f3n\u00a0Square was the center of the town where the market was held.<\/p>\n<p>The first communication route Mux\u00eda had was the road Mux\u00eda-Berdoias, which allowed it to communicate with the capital of the province via the first motor vehicles that appeared in the 1920s and also, at the end of the decade, with the arrival of electricity.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8238 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia4-300x160.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia4-300x160.jpg 300w, https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia4-768x410.jpg 768w, https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia4-1030x549.jpg 1030w, https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia4-1500x800.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia4-705x376.jpg 705w, https:\/\/concellomuxia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/historia4-450x240.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Civil War and Post-war years were difficult both for cultural as for economic progress, being after the 1950s when this misery starts to disappear due to fish prices. The real economic boom of the town was produced with the discovery of the fishing ground Canto, making the aspect of the town change completely, mainly during the 1970s\u00a0(complete renovation of the fishing fleet, construction of new houses with brick and cement materials, etc.), though nowadays the importance of the sector has less significance due to the reduction in the amount of captures and species. <strong>At present, Mux\u00eda is a seafaring town which serves as a shopping and service center for its entire municipal district <\/strong>giving it certain vitality and making it a center of attraction for the inhabitants of the rural area in the municipality.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"parent":5351,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-4813","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.0 -
